books&media, we have interviewed the auther of the famous
book, "Life with roomsharing"Akky.
A kky also is the webmaster of the 2 famous website“Roomshare
Japan”＆“Introduction
to roomshare”
When we interviewed him, he was staying in Sanfransisco, so
we also asked a little about how house sharing in the states
were.

is what we asked to Akky！
1. What was the
motivation that made you write a book and run a website about
sharing?
I used to have a website even before I started this. It was
around 1999 when I started to build a web page concerning roomshare,
but before that, I was just colecting informations about salad
bars around the Tokyo, Machida area. The reason I started to
make a web page about roomsharing was I thought my rough roomsharing
experience would help other people.
" Life with roomsharing" started when a publisher
contacted me and told me if I was interested in publishing a
book about what I was doing in my website.
2.Can you tell us about that you encounter
when running a website.
People advertising something thats got nothing to do
with roomsharing in the bulletin board. That, I'm still fighting
against, every day.
3.Can you tell us briefly about share
life in Sanfrancisco.
The bay area including Sanfrancisco is the same as New York,
the realstate price is really high, Rents are high, so there
are a lot of people who manages their life by house sharing.
There is a huge website called "craigslist" which
I'm using examples from to my website, "Roomshare Japan".
That website now covers all over the states, but the service
originaly started from Sanfrancisco. This website can find houses,
jobs, even girlfriends, boyfriends, whatever and anybody who
can use the internet can find house share mates too. Houses
in America are much much bigger then the ones in Japan. Kitchen,
corridor, living room, etc. So, compared to Japan, the sharing
space is much bigger too.
4You've written a little about your job
carrer in your website, Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Your hobbie, What kind of a person you are, stuff like that.
My character is a little sloppy. But if there is someone sloppier
than me, I'm the guy who does the cleaning. I used to like playing
with a computer since when I was a kid, and I went to technical
school to become a computer programer, and became one and that's
what I do to earn my bread and butter. I think I'm one of those
lucky guys, My hobbie is programing and running website, reading
comics. For sports, I play tennis, and like to watch MLB.
5.Can we have
a word from you to all the people who hasn't had the experience
of room sharing?
If you house share, you'll learn what kind of problems which
would occur when sharing a house with somebody else. If you
are planning to get married and raise a family, why not try
house sharing first before you make that big mistake? |
